Lowell Giving, the charitable arm of Lowell Group, has helped team members to raise almost £6,000 for good causes in its first year.

Throughout the year team members have taken part in a host of fundraising events to raise money for four ‘Charities of the Quarter’ that they nominated and voted for themselves. The chosen charities were Cancer Research UK, Martin House children’s hospice, Mac,illan Cancer Support and Candlelighters.

Fundraising events ranged from a charity drop, where people brought in their unwanted items for sale in charity shops with Lowell donating £1 for every item brought in, through to cake bakes, doughnut days, quizzes and lotteries.

A series of team challenges that included a Calderdale Walk, Great Yorkshire Bike Ride and several half marathons raised over £1000 while a Summer Charity Ball contributed £800 to the total.

Dicky Davies, business development director for Lowell Group and ambassador for Lowell Giving commented:

We set up Lowell Giving to provide a more focused approach to charitable fundraising within the company and to encourage team member participation and ownership, and I’m really proud of what’s been achieved in the first year. Team Lowell really stepped up to the plate and a big thank you to everyone who took part. Our first year has been a great success and we are looking forward to raising even more money for worthy causes in 2012.

Lowell Giving’s ‘Charities of the Quarter’ for 2012, as chosen by Team Lowell, are Cancer Research UK, Brain Tumour Research and Support across Yorkshire, Help for Heroes, and Alzheimer’s Society.
